Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread
In this sixth of a short series of devotionals from the Lord’s Prayer, Pastor Peter Linnecar, gives thoughts on the phrase, “Give us this day our daily bread.”
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, “Give us this day our daily bread,” they had recently witnessed the miraculous power of the Son of God. Jesus had demonstrated His provision for many people with the small loaves and the two fishes.
Each day, you and I can receive not only physical bread, but also spiritual bread. Jesus said that we can’t live on bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of the Father. “Give us this day our daily bread” is about natural provision, as well as spiritual provision for us.
When God provided the manna in the desert for the children of Israel, it was a daily physical provision. But the absolutely wonderful thing is that God provides for our spiritual needs as well, every day without fail.
